Arthroscopic Surgery
Your orthopaedist can get a detailed look at your rotator cuff by using an arthroscope, a pencil-shaped lighting and lens system. Corrective procedures, such as making more space for tendon movement or repairing minor tears, are performed with specially designed instruments inserted through tiny incisions smaller than a buttonhole.
Helping It Heal
Your shoulder will heal faster if you faithfully follow the treatment and exercise program recommended by your doctor or you physical therapist. At first, you'll prbaably be using cold packs, a sling, or a splint. Your doctor or pysical therapist may suggest that you gently move your shoulder to prevent stiffness and swelling . To assist this movement, you may also be advised to use a continuous passive motion (CPM) machine.
